Both the conductor and the London Philharmonic Orchestra, which will be returning to Budapest after a long absence, are well-known to Hungarian audiences, while Kantorow, the first French winner of the International Tchaikovsky Competition, will likewise be a familiar presence here, having made his Müpa Budapest debut with an amazing performance in 2021. This time, he will serve as the soloist for Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 2, which is less famous than the first, making it all the more worthy of discovery. This will be followed by another second effort in its genre, one that is perhaps Sibelius’s easiest symphony to love. These two second works promise a first-rate experience!
