A Szent István Király Zeneiskola Szimfonikus Zenekarát Záborszky József 1968-ban alapította azzal a céllal, hogy az akkori I. István Gimnázium Szimfonikus Zenekarának biztosítva legyen a zenei utánpótlása. E zenekar tagjai viszonylag széles korosztályból kerültek ki, e közösség 14 éves kortól akár 28 éves korig foglalkoztatta, foglalkoztatja a zenélni tanuló fiatalokat.
