After her first solo appearance in 2012, Belgian American Trixie Whitley returns to play in Hungary for the second time, though this is the first time we will hear her perform at the head of a trio, as she tours her incredible 2019 album. Trixie has a frenetic past, but right now she is in the form of her life. She was the child prodigy of her famous musical father (Chris Whitley), and after performing in a fine supergroup (Black Dub), some solo records, a joint LP with Kid Koala and various artistic stage productions, she has finally been able to realise her dream sound. At this concert, Whitley will present her hypnotic masterpiece, which was produced by the Run The Jewels rap duo.

Trixie Whitley was three years old when she first took to the stage during the concerts of her blues-roots rock musician father, Chris Whitley. She released her debut album together with her father when she was ten, in 1997. One year later she became Belgium's youngest ever resident DJ, spinning avantgarde electronica and jazz music. Her life has been spinning ever since. She has toured with alternative theatre groups and also became a member of supergroup Black Dub, who played a mixture of sub, soul and rock and were formed by the musician Daniel Lanois, a producer for U2 and Bob Dylan. The noted jazz drummer Brian Blade was responsible for rhythm in the band, while Whitley, who has a soul music singing style, has gone on to work with a wide array of famous names, from Marc Ribot to Robert Plant. Her first records mainly featured a modernised blues style reminiscent of PJ Harvey, whereas on her most recent 2019 album, Lacuna, she added electronic and hip-hop, hypnotic beats to her songs to create a futuristic, vibrant sound. She is an inventive, provocative and uncategorisable performer, whose music will appeal both to lovers of soul music and perhaps those who detect a more trip-hop based relative of St. Vincent.

Our offer

Macskabál van az elhagyott színház ódon színpadán. Minden évben egyszer megrendezik a bált, és erre összegyűlnek a környék - nagyon is emberi tulajdonságokkal felruházott - macskái. Eltáncolják és eldalolják életüket.

Megújult műsorral, új fellépőkkel térnek vissza az Illúzió Mesterei Mosonmagyaróvárra!

Some people need to immerse themselves in the world of a true classic every evening: this family fairy tale ballet by the Szeged Contemporary Dance Company gives every member of the family the opportunity to do just that.

„Hegedűs a háztetőn… valahol mind azok vagyunk. Megpróbálunk egy letisztult dallamot kicsalni, miközben egyensúlyozunk, hogy ne szegjük nyakunkat. Nem könnyű!”
