The history of the Erik Sumo Band, led by Amorf Ördögök songwriter Ambrus Tövisházi, starts in 2005 with an album released in Germany named My Rocky Mountain, a selection of downtempo music drawing on Western film scores.

This first album featured the recently deceased Juli Fábián on vocals. Veronika Harcsa, well-established on the jazz scene at home and abroad, took over on vocals from mid 2005. Alongside Erzsi Kiss, creator of her very own distinct musical language, they forge a phenomenal duo.
The Erik Sumo Band toured regularly until 2010. From that point, the band changed ts line-up several times, and, with the exception of a handful of concerts, did not perform in the first half of this decade. The 2015 première of Liza, the Fox Fairy, a fantasy-black comedy evoking 1960's Hungary, put the band back on the map. Tövisházi composed the soundtrack and sang all the songs in Japanese. Two sold-out concerts this year have proven that this is a tough band to forget. This performance in the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall will be the crowning of their rebirth as they play all their best hits from the past 13 years.
