Elévülhetetlen érdemeket szerzett a jazz-rock, majd a fúziós jazz térnyerésében, sikerrel ötvözte a jazzt a klasszikus zenével, illetve a roma népzenével. Két fia szintén jeles zongoraművész. Magyar-amerikai zenekarában ezen az estén élvonalbeli muzsikusok szerepelnek. A Magyarországhoz ezer szállal kötődő Chris Potter zeneszerző és fúvós hangszeres a műfaj egyik legkeresettebb és leginkább nagyra tartott művésze. Szakcsin kívül korábban Dresch Mihály vendégeként és Pat Metheny zenekarában is színpadra lépett a Müpában.
