Having witnessed joyous historical events like royal weddings and the coronations of Hungarian kings, Matthias Church over its 800 year-history also served as a place of Muslim worship, and even a stable for horses and a military canteen during the 1944/45 siege of Budapest. Today it is a working Roman Catholic church of national importance, which also puts on fabulous organ concerts.
